I started 18 years ago with a wooded acre and tons of native ferns and wildflowers. Lots of time and money later, I learned my #1 garden rule: "Plant what your garden likes, not what you would like for your garden." I realized that one of my garden's favorite plants, the hosta, has many more options than plain green or green and white, so I began wandering down the wonderful path of hosta collecting, and haven't looked back since.

From one gardener to another...

I love hostas - but I guess you know that already.  I’m an avid gardener and love all sort of plants, but over the years I’ve learned to listen to my garden - you know what I mean - and my garden says, “bring me hostas”.  So, of course, I do.

In case you haven’t noticed, the days of planting a ring of green & white hostas around your tree are over - don’t even think about it!  There are more than 5,000 hosta varieties out there, from minis to giants in every shade of green & gold, with pure white to sunny yellow variegations.  And the names are just as much fun as the shapes and sizes and growing patterns.

I’m not an expert - just a fan - perhaps you’ll become one too.
